Merlin used his gift of sight to find the star child. He was able to interpret a prophecy that a star child would be born when he was half way through life and he could make this child into a strong leader. Merlin however, had a strong greed for power and wealth and he would illustrate his own growing power on a daily basis.
He had a strong disliking of many of the non-human brothers that inhabited the earth, especially gargoyles. He would be rude to most other species (vampires, wolfmen and the like) but he was especially cruel to gargoyles. No one knows what happened to Merlin that made him this cruel towards them, but we do know that he eventually lead a crusade to kill all of the gargoyles of the world.
Gargoyles had a fondness of metal and they were some of the greatest blacksmiths and swords welders of the earth. Perhaps out of irony and spite, Merlin used their own passion against them. Merlin finally found his star child in the form of Arthur who later would become King Arthur. He used the sword known as Excalibur awaken the powers within Arthur so together they would be able to wage a war against the gargoyles.

The Beginning
So like most fantastical stories there is a bit of origin that has to be set up. I've decided that I'm going to use this blog as a way of developing certain aspects of the universe for my story. It is important to know that the story takes place on Earth, and will be set in modern time.
At one time in our ancient past, humans shared this planet with other humanoid creatures. These creatures consisted of beings as diverse as wolfmen, vampires, gargoyles and pedmilites (beings that look like human children at adult age). Every few thousands of years the spirits of the earth cast their powers into a human in an attempt to hurtle the populace into a new age of wisdom and change. For thousands of years, all of the races on this earth lived together. Most races kept to themselves, wars would occasionally break out, but every race had a basic level of even footing on this planet.
This all changed when during the middle ages. The wizard know today as Merlin was not actually a wizard, but a human being who had the ability to astral travel. Through the use of astral travel, you are able to experience many amazing things. You have at your fingers the talent to walk the world as a ghost and journey into others dreams, even journey into the realms of spirits. He eventually became so skilled at this talent that he discovered the keys to secret abilities that only astral travelers could ever learn. He used these abilities not for the good of others however, but for his own success.
Thus began his quest to discover the star child. You see, every few hundred years there is a child that is born with a unique gift given to him by the spirits of the earth. Some of these children live their whole lives without ever realizing that within them they have a power that could change the world. There needs to be some form of awakening in order for this star child to realize their hidden gifts.

The Epiphany
So, I've decided to starting writing in this blog to help me on my path to becoming the next J.K. or T.S. Mostly, the J.K. though. I'm interested in the fantasy particularly. Anyway, I was working in California as a courier around Hollywood when I had a sudden vision of the epic story I've been waiting to tell. You see, I'm a huge fan of Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter and the Matrix. What makes them all magnificent are their strict adherence to archetypes and mythological themes of which these stories all tell. I mean these films are retelling stories as ancient as the Odyssey. The coming of age quest of the hero, the teachings from the wizard, and of course the basic struggle of good vs. evil. I wanted all of this in my story, plus all of the crazy fantastical adventures as well, but never found the right way to fit it all in. But, I think it was the recent discovery of anime influence that really got my mind moving in the right direction. If any of you have ever seen the films of Hayao Miyazaki you know what I'm talking about. He is a genus and Princess Mononoke has become one of my new favorite films. I wanted to incorporate all of my fantasy loves into my own epic journey and now I'm hoping I'm on the path to starting just that.
